I have over a decade of photographic experience – photojournalism, fine art photography, portraiture, and wedding photography. My images have appeared in numerous publications and art galleries. I studied at the University of Southern California, UCLA, and the Art Center College of Design, as well as with a master photographer and darkroom printer for many years.
The many wedding venues in Santa Fe, such as the La Posada, La Fonda and the numerous churches provide wonderful settings. I will take hundreds of photographs, all of which are available to you in the various wedding packages that I offer.
Albuquerque Wedding Photography
For me (Robert Swan), Albuquerque photography goes beyond the artistic. I find it to be rather spiritual. One is able to capture a moment in time and space that will never occur again. To be able to take a negative, shine light through it onto photographic paper, and then see the image appear – almost magically – in the developer is a wonderful, creative experience.
One of my favorite photography teachers always said that the most important factor of a great photograph is the person behind the camera – who uses his experience and artistic vision to make the most of the subject being photographed. The next most important factor in making a great a great photograph is the person printing the photograph in the darkroom.
Darkroom printing, in my opinion, takes more practice and patience than any other part of photography. The task of deciding upon the correct combination of photographic paper type, paper contrast grade, and the final dodging and burning pattern is a time consuming one, but the great photographers such as W. Eugene Smith and Ansel Adams knew the process was worth the time. Photographic enlargements produced in this manner are true works of art.
